Peanut (Western Screech Owl)
Peanut came to the Alaska Raptor Center in 2014 from a gentleman in Ketchikan, Alaska who turned his birds over to us because he was leaving Alaska and could not take her. We don’t know much about Peanut, but we do know she is an older owl, over 10 years, but have no idea of her exact age. She cannot fly well enough for release due to a broken right wing many years ago. Peanut used to be a glove trained bird, but is now retired and is housed in her own enclosure.

The Alaska Raptor Center’s Adopt-A-Raptor program allows people around the world to help us care for Alaska’s wild birds. By becoming an adoptive “parent,” you help support the daily care, feeding and any required medical treatment for your adopted bird.
Adoptive “parents” receive an official adoption certificate, a photograph and biography of the adopted bird, natural history information, and a one-year membership to the Alaska Raptor Center. As a member you will receive a 10% discount on all of our gift shop items in future purchases.
Thank you for your support and congratulations!
