Seasonal Programs Assistant

The Alaska Raptor Center seeks a Seasonal Programs Assistant for Alaska’s premier bald eagle treatment center and educational facility, which is also one of the state’s foremost visitor attractions.  The Alaska Raptor Center is located on 17 lush acres in the temperate rainforest of Southeast Alaska, nestled between mountains and the sea.  We educate 40,000 visitors each summer.

Responsibilities

  • Clean, prepare and deliver rental items (boots, waterproof pants, and trekking poles) to ships on time.
  • Accurately inventory of all rental items (issued and received back) at the Alaska Raptor Center and in Google Sheets.
  • Inspect and remove from inventory any damaged or unusable rental items and communicate inventory needs with Seattle office in a timely fashion.
  • Constantly and effectively apply procedures with the ships’ personnel, while maintaining a positive and responsive relationship with them.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Google Docs and Mail.
  • Must be physically capable and willing to stand for long periods of time during the day, work in all weather conditions (i.e. cold, wind and rain) and occasionally perform heavy lifting up to 40 lbs.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong problem solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills to maintain positive and responsive relationships with The Center, Seattle office and all the ships.
  • Minimum Secondary School Education.

Additional Requirements

  • Access to a vehicle for transporting guest gear from Air Cargo and Cruise Ships

Position Type and Duration

  • Seasonal full-time (40 hours per week)
  • Flexible start date between mid-April and early May.
  • Position ends September 30th

Compensation

$13/hr

Supervision

The Seasonal Programs Assistant reports directly to the Operations Manager.
