Luci (Bald Eagle)
Luci was admitted February 26th, 2016 as our sixth eagle of the year. Upon arrival from Wrangell, we found some cuts on the right wing along with large scabs on the left wing. We’re not really sure what happened to her, but electrocution is the most likely cause, due to the random placement of her injuries. Happily, Luci hadn’t had any internal damage so after a few days in her own space she was able to join the other eagles in main flight. After watching her fly it became obvious that some of her tendons had been injured as well, since she could glide, but not fly. As a education eagle Luci makes herself known with loud vocalizations whenever a training session begins. Luci was admitted as a three year old. In two years she will molt into her adult plumage of white head and tail.
