Tito

Tito

Northern Saw-whet Owl

Tito came to the Alaska Raptor Center from Juneau, Alaska after being found on the ground, starving and under attack by ravens. He is blind in his right eye, leaving him without depth perception and not able to hunt or defend himself in the wild. Deemed non-releasable, Tito joined our ambassador program.

Northern Saw-whet Owls like Tito are one of the smaller species of owls found in Alaska. He weighs a whopping 65 grams which is as much as a size C battery! Being a small owl, Tito is very timid and does not like being in the open with no protection from predators. He is currently being trained to go into a kennel on his own so that he can be more easily transported from place to place.
