Sitka was transferred to the Alaska Raptor Center from Bird TLC in Anchorage after being hit by a car near Ninilchik on the Kenai Peninsula. She suffered severe injuries, including damage to her right wing and rear toe. The toe was amputated, and a permanent wing droop causes her to drag her wingtip, damaging her feathers. Although she can still fly somewhat, she is non-releasable because she cannot hunt successfully in the wild.
