Rain

Bald Eagle

Rain, a Bald Eagle,  was rescued in Juneau, Alaska and transferred to the Alaska Raptor Center in April 2017. Although she was able to fly short distances, it was evident that something was wrong with her right wing. Examination revealed severe, irreparable damage to the wingtip. While the exact cause of the injury is unknown, electrocution is suspected.

Rain later underwent surgery to amputate the damaged wingtip, leaving her unable to fly. Her name reflects the abundant rainfall characteristic of the temperate rainforest of southeastern Alaska.
