Quigiq

Qigiq

Snowy Owl

Qigiq (pronounced Kig-ick) was found starving and injured along an Illinois roadside in 2012 after being struck by a vehicle and suffering multiple fractures to his left wing. He received surgery at the University of Illinois Wildlife Medical Clinic and was later transferred to the Alaska Raptor Center for flight rehabilitation. Despite extensive care, he was deemed non-releasable due to permanent flight impairment.

Snowy Owls like Qigiq are very popular with visitors at the Alaska Raptor Center. While he no longer does programs on the glove, Qigiq is still able to be viewed. He now lives in a brand-new enclosure with perching designed just for him!
