Fe

Fe

American Kestrel

Fe (pronounced fay), an American Kestrel, was brought to the New Mexico Wildlife Center in July 2021. After being kept by a rescuer for several days, she unfortunately became habituated to humans. Despite time spent with other kestrels, she showed little socialization and was ultimately deemed non-releasable, making her a strong candidate for education programming.

We provide Fe with a variety of enrichment activities, and one of her favorites is a forage tray. A small tray is filled with grass, moss and hidden insects for her to discover. Fe especially enjoys hunting bugs and worms, and this activity gives her both tasty treats and valuable mental stimulation.
