This is our year-round team, here day-in and day-out caring for our birds, educating visitors, maintaining our facilities and communicating with members.In addition we add between 10 and 13 additional staff to help educate our summer visitors and make the Alaska Raptor Center the highlight of a vacation.Our summer staff are known as Wildlife Interpreters and in a very short time become very knowledgeable about our birds, their environment and the work we do here in Alaska.
Debbie Reeder, Executive Director
Debbie is responsible for all aspects of the Alaska Raptor Center, including operations, fundraising and education. An employee since 2002, Debbie was recently promoted from Operations Manager to Executive Director.
Anjeanette Payant, Member Services Manager
Ange is responsible for helping maintain a relationship with all of our members, including mailing renewals, managing the database and a large variety of other correspondence.She also works on development, helps with the summer tour planning and operations and jumps in anywhere she see's a need! Ange has been with the Alaska Raptor Center since 2004.
Roger Trani, Avian Keeper
Roger is part of a two-person team tasked with the feeding and cleaning of our birds and their habitats. He’s current on proper nutrition and helps maintain a clean environment, which is extremely important to the well being of wild patients and our education birds. Roger has been with the Center since 2007.
Lacie Penven, Avian Keeper
Lacie is the other part of the “keeping” team.She has been a part of our team since March 2008 and is working hard on building relationships with our resident birds.She takes great care in the feeding and cleaning of our birds.
Jennifer Cedarleaf, Avian Rehabilitation Coordinator
Jen is typically referred to as our “rehabber,” since her primary duty is to take care of the injured and sick birds admitted to our clinic.Jen works part time for the Center, adjusting her schedule to match our patient load.The rest of the time she is a research assistant for a humpback whale biologist.
Victoria Vosburg, DVM -
Veterinarian Dr. Vosburg supports the Center on a contract basis, diagnosing, treating and helping rehabilitate our wild patients.In addition, she performs regular exams and care for our resident education birds.She was our staff veterinarian at the Center from the mid 1990's through 1998, and returned to us on a contract basis in 2005.We are very fortunate to have someone with her level of experience with raptors, coupled with a thorough knowledge of our organization and a love for both.
